Hobbi, an App to Record Your Unique Projects, is Facebook’s Current Research Project

Facebook is adding yet another app to its portfolio of creative works from the NPE Team, an initiative it unveiled last year and centred on fast seeking out new social media designs to gauge user reaction.

An Overview Of Hobbi

With the launch of Hobbi, a photo and video sharing app made for recording your unique crafts and interests, the firm released its fourth app test this week.

Although Hobbi clearly takes inspiration from Pinterest, it is more than just a pinboard for motivational ideas.

Instead, the app is meant to help enthusiasts combine images of their creations into themed categories, such as gardening, cooking, arts & crafts, décor, and much more.

The app’s ability to make video highlight reels that you may share with friends after your tasks are finished does not involve social networking.

In that sense, Hobbi functions more like a social network editor and organiser.

It’s also a simple software with few editing options or controls, comparable, for instance, to Instagram’s more robust Stories editor.

It’s interesting that Hobbi began development shortly after Tangi, a Google Area 120 incubation app that likewise focuses on creativity, hobbies, and DIY material.

The Tangi Tale

Tangi, which was built on short-form video and is akin to a curated TikTok for DIY, might be considered a unique kind of software.

It launched the social music app Aux and the friend-making conversation app Bump in November.

But, its original test, a meme editor known as Whale, has already been discontinued.

Looking back to its first publication, which said that availability would depend on the app, Facebook has thus far declined to discuss its designs for any specific NPE Team app.

The company had further stated that the trials in a number of situations would be brief because the NPE Team will shut down apps that users didn’t find useful before moving on to develop new ones.

The Information also covered the release of Hobbi after observing a decline in Pinterest share price.

Hobbi is now exclusively available on iOS.

It was easy to download it in the United States, but it is also available in Ukraine, Belgium, Colombia, and Spain.
