Microsoft Teams Now Incorporates the AWS Chatbot

Enterprise customers will be able to use command line interface commands to run notebooks and receive notifications from the chatbot from within Teams about events like security threats and the condition of the system.

Microsoft Teams now includes the AWS Chatbot from Amazon Web Services, enabling business customers to communicate with AWS cloud services directly from the chat programme.

AWS Chatbot is a tool that enables enterprise development and IT teams to receive updates about their AWS infrastructure resources from within a productivity or chat application like Slack. It was originally demonstrated in 2019 and became fully accessible in 2020.

Sébastien Stormacq, principal developer advocate at AWS, wrote in a blog post: “When using AWS Chatbot for Microsoft Teams or other chat platforms, you receive notifications from AWS services directly in your chat channels, and you can take action on your infrastructure by typing commands without having to switch to another tool.”

The integration of the chat application with AWS services like Amazon CloudWatch and Amazon Simple Notification Service enables interaction with AWS infrastructure and resources (SNS).

Whereas SNS is a push notification tool for AWS’ distributed systems, microservices, serverless applications, and endpoints, Amazon CloudWatch is a service that is used to gather and visualize real-time logs, metrics, and event data in automated dashboards.

Amazon Simple Queue Service (SQS), Amazon Kinesis Data Firehose, AWS Lambda, and other HTTPS endpoints are among the applications that are supported by AWS SNS, according to the provider.

The chatbot can communicate event-related data to the supported chat applications thanks to the integration of AWS’ EventBridge service with SNS.

Enterprise customers can also run CLI commands to run notebooks to handle issues using the Amazon Chatbot within Teams. The business added that by creating aliases within the AWS Chatbot channel in Teams and other applications, customers can store lengthy commands that they frequently forget.

Program executable codes are maintained in notebooks like repositories.

Enterprises must add the AWS Chatbot to the appropriate group or group of users inside the application in order to integrate everything with Microsoft Teams. The chatbot can then be established using the team’s url through the Management Portal or Cloud Storage Development Kit after that.
