Apple Replaces the Headphone Jack on the iPhone 7 with Lightning EarPods and AirPods

So now it has been verified. The new iPhone 7 lacks a headphone jack. To ease the transition for audiophiles, the Cupertino firm is instead presenting two new headphone options.

During the company’s September press event, Apple Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Phil Schiller noted, “The reason to go on basically boils down to one word: courage.”

The new iPhone 7 model will come with the Lightning EarPods option, which is essentially an improved version of the current

EarPods. However, they only connect to the iPhone via the Lightning connection.

Schiller said that by getting rid of the analogue headphone jack, Apple will have more room for other technological advancements like the dual speakers in the iPhone 7 and brighter displays and quicker CPUs. According to him, the Lightning connection also enables new headphone capabilities like adaptive noise reduction and better audio without the need for an additional power source.

Wireless AirPods are the second set of headphone options. They have no cords at all, and a “W1 chip” inside is meant to provide a dependable wireless connection. Also, each AirPod has infrared sensors that recognise when it is in your ear, allowing them to only play music when inserted.

Moreover, these AirPods have a motion accelerometer so they can react to your touch and let you call Siri by double tapping. Moreover, the innovative beam-forming microphones on these headphones lessen background noise.

Regarding battery life, each AirPod has a five-hour runtime, and they come with a wireless charging case that recharges them in just 15 minutes. The case’s battery life is up to 24 hours overall.

Unfortunately, the new item will cost a lot—$159 to be exact—and won’t be available until late October.
